Automatic flights Waypoints - some questions

Ole S

Not sure if this is Beta related, but hope you don't mind a few questions.

Mini 3 Pro (4.5.0 (244) + N1 / Xperia 1 III Android 13)

Was trying making some on-the-fly waypoints and to have the Mini 3 Pro to follow that route.

But when I wanted to start the flight, the app kept telling me "unable to take control" please make sure flight mode is in P-GPS mode to continue.

In the top right corner of the app it says, APAS. Only thing I could do to get the drone to do the flight, was to land it and start the flight from the ground, then it would work. But is this how it has to be? This can be very challenging if I am up in the mountains in winter and working against the clock and battery capacity. Read something about APAS having to do with obstacle avoidance in the DJI app? But does the settings in the DJI app affect Dronelink app?

I am not able to change video resolution at all, or set resolution to 4K 50p/60p, only 30p. Is this a limitation set in the SDK? Or the app? Will we ever see 4K 50/60p? I know any autonomos flights using DJI fly is limiting 4K video to 30p, but was hoping DL would not be affected by this.

Will following a route/waypoints work in sports mode, or only in standard mode? (I understand obstacle avoidance will not work in sports mode).

Installed the app on my DJI RC-Pro radio, did not work very stable, kept dropping out and loosing video feed.
Will stick to N1 + Android phone for now.

Best,

Ole

Mini 3 is still in beta, so yes, this is beta related.

Virtual stick is not allow with APAS (DJI SDK / firmware limitation).

In general, if DJI Fly doesn't allow it in the UI, this means it is a hardware limitation which carries over to SDK apps.

Same answer as APAS. Bottom line, you have to be in P-GPS before the firmware will allow virtual stick to activate.

Did you force stop DJI Fly first?

Hi Jim, thank you for your reply.

Indeed, did some more reading, and I had to force quit the DJI app, now RC PRO is working with DL, thank you.

I don't get it, in this video, you input waypoints, and when done you just hit play and the drone carries out the mission.

But when I want to do that, I have to land first, and then start the mission!?? Why? What can I do to avoid that?

I don't want to waste time and battery on landing and taking off. And landing might not be conveninent.

    Best,
    Ole

Probably because when the drone is on the ground APAS isn't active yet? Have you turned off APAS?

    Jim,

Indeed obstacle avoidance, or APAS, was turned on, in drone.

Turned it off, and all good, was able to start mission from the air.

    Thank you,
    Ole
