App 4.5.0 build 240 keeps shutting down on its own

Daniel Snyder

On my Samsung S22.

1.  Keeps shutting down while trying Edit Mapping Plan.

2. Can't find Mini 3 Pro in the Drone list at all.

3. Where is the Web App?   Can't find the Beta Webapp either.  Need to have the Mini 3 Pro in the Mapping Drone Lists.

4. Got a popup message in the Android App saying "Obstacle Avoidance not Supported".

    Welcome to beta testing :)

Keeps shutting down while trying Edit Mapping Plan.

Will look into that one. Is it all mission plans or one in particular? If one, can you share it?

    Where is the Web App?

We don’t have a specific web app for the beta yet, so you can just use the production url.

Need to have the Mini 3 Pro in the Mapping Drone Lists.

We are working on finding the camera specs, but if you have them handy, feel free to post here and we will add them in ASAP.

Got a popup message in the Android App saying "Obstacle Avoidance not Supported".

Welcome to the world of DJI MSDKv5 drones. M3 and M30 users have already become painfully aware of this, and we have brought it to DJI’s attention and it sounds like they are taking the feature request seriously (as MSDKv4 had this on by default and this is basically a regression from our point of view).

Welcome indeed!    So here is the legacy mapping mission.    (I also tried a creating a mapping mission from scratch - same boot out issue.).

From DJI Website -  the specs for the Mini 3 Pro (and Mini 3) are:

    • FOV: 82.1°
      Format Equivalent: 24 mm
      Aperture: f/1.7
      Focus Range: 1 m to ∞
    • Also the standard format is 4:3.

PS:  Production URL does not have Mini 3 in the selections - so FOV's so Mapping Overlap %'s will be inaccurate.

Unfortunately, these types of specs aren’t good enough. If you click custom on the sensor, you will see the format we need.

    Right, because:

If anyone has a Mini 3 or Mini 3 Pro, they can determine the Vertical and Horizontal FOV's by flying a mission and 1. Centering then Yawing a distant tower or landmark and recording Azimuth change.   Then 2. Centering  the Gimbal up and down at the horizon and recording Pitch angle delta.

Do you see a live video feed?

Keeps shutting down while trying Edit Mapping Plan.

Are you able to reproduce this on the production version of the app?

App did not stay open long enough to get that far. It dumped me when I was looking for the Drone Model in the drop down list.

    Hello,

Installed on S23 Ultra but keeps shutting down after about 10 seconds.

When I try to connect to drone (if quick enough) I've got error Request_handler_not_found and then stops.

S23U ask to clear cache of apk but that doesn't help either. So not able to test at all.

I don’t understand all the camera specs and I Don’t have the Mini 3 but I searched and found the Sensor size which states, 10mm x 7.5mm. Can’t find the lens size other then the 1/1.3. Unless it can be converted to mm.  Maybe it will help. If not then hang in there.

This is what I was able to find. No guarantees.

These are the fields in the custom camera as noted above.

    https://www.dpreview.com/articles/4761655098/dji-s-mini-mini-2-mini-3-or-mini-3-pro-which-lightweight-drone-is-right-for-you

Like its Mini 3 Pro counterpart, it (The Mini 3 - non pro) offers a Type 1/1.3 (10 x 7.5mm) sensor. A 12MP camera with a 24mm equivalent lens (82.1º FOV ) and fixed F1.7 aperture is mounted on a 3-axis gimbal that is also capable of rotating for vertical (portrait) shots – no cropping necessary.

    Lens Focal Length: (mm) 6.72

    Sensor Width: (mm)  10

    Sensor Height: (mm) 7.5

    Image Width: (pixel) 4032

    Image Height (pixel) 3024

    https://www.videomaker.com/reviews/drones/dji-mini-3-pro-review-even-more-features-crammed-into-the-mini-form-factor/

     48 MP (8064 x 6048)
    – 12 MP (4032 x 3024)

For focal length search DJI Mini 3 and 6.72, you might need to "force" the use of 6.72 in the search (use quotes "6.72")

(Edited wrote Mini 2 and meant Mini 3 search.)

    "Obstacle avoidance not supported".
Not so clear for me on how to manage the feature when using DL.
Can you please clarify what to do for flying safely ?
Like if the Obstacle Avoidance function does not exist I guess.

Unfortunately there is no solution besides flying well above any obstacles. DJI is aware of the issue and is looking into a resolution, but it has been this way for many months already with the M3E and M30 drones.

I am ready to test a new Build #.   Were the root causes found and corrected?

Do you mean with the app crashing? DJI thinks MSDKv5 may not work with Android 13 devices. They haven’t confirmed it yet and are looking into it, and we probably won’t put out another build until they put out another version of the MSDK.

I do not have a photo from a Mini 3, but if someone does, and they have IrfanView, you can confirm the focal length and pixel count.

This data is for the Mini 2.

Obstacle avoidance being disabled seems like a regression from every possible point of view! Even just the braking obstacle avoidance mode would be useful to avoid accidents during waypoint missions of course. Having a setting to turn it off when desired is naturally fine, but not having it at all? Sure hope DJI comes to their senses about this soon. This is a deal breaker in some applications.

243 is out (there is a banner in the app that tells you when new builds are available).

    I see Version 4.5.0 (243)  |  Kernel 4.5.0        I downloaded it.

Is it compatible with Android 13 now?

I do not yet see the Mini 3 or the Mini 3 Pro in the Camera Drop Downs on the Android app.  Will these drones be added soon or never?

Also if there is a Web App for Laptop mission planning?  If so, how do I get it?   (So I can plan with the right camera).

    Thanks in advance Jim,

    Daniel

Yeah. I flew a waypoints mission with my Air2s and no issue. As for the Mini 3 Pro I don't have a confirmation from Jim it's safe to try again.

    Jim?

I created a 3 Component mission.  The Air 2s flew it flawlessly.   The Mini 3 Pro did not connect it seems.  Here was the error popping up in Dronelink (latest version):

This error happened before on MSDKv4 drones (such as the Air 2S) when it wasn’t on the latest firmware, or when DJI hadn’t released the SDK that supported remote ID and the drone firmware was requesting it.

So what are you saying?    Wait for DJI to do release something new?    In the meantime when will the Dronelink Beta dropdowns show the Mini 3 drones?   Jim please give clearer details here and a path forward.  Thanks.

    So what are you saying?

Is your mini 3 on the latest firmware, and were you trying to connect to it with the Dronelink DJI app, not the Dronelink app?

In the meantime when will the Dronelink Beta dropdowns show the Mini 3 drones?

We are still waiting on DJI for the exact camera specs for the Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro, if you have them please post it here.
