Location Unavailable - Mavic Air 2

Matt Fraboni

When you try and start any mission it gives the error "Location Unavailable". Tried clearing the cache, manually taking off, rebooting everything and same error.

Only work around is opening the DJI Fly App, taking off, waiting a few seconds, closing DJI Fly app then reopening the Dronelink app then you can start the mission. If you change batteries in the same location the Dronelink app still works but if the drone is off for several minutes, controller is turned off, or if the app is closed then you must repeat the procedure above.

Device Model: Pixel 2XL with Standard Controller

Drone: DJI Mavic Air 2

Error Message: "Location Unavailable" pop-up after pressing the start mission button.

Mission: All Missions

    What version of Dronelink?

    Have you tried reinstalling Dronelink?

Are you sure DJI Fly isn't running in the background when this happens?

Dronelink Version: 2.3.0. and reinstalled the Dronelink app.

DJI Fly app isn't open, however Force stopping DJI Fly App in the settings appears to have resolved the issue.

    Thanks

I am currently having a similar, if not the same, issue with my Air 2. However, this fix did not work for me because when I force quit the DJI Fly App and open Dronelink, I get the an Aircraft Encoder Error. The encoder error was an initial issue I was having but that was resolved by opening the DJI Fly App first, letting it establish it was safe to fly, and then I would close it. This would take care care if the encoder error.

The current probelm is when ever I try and use the Follow feature, it tells me to set the distance greater than 10'. I say next and it gives Error: device location unavailable.

I was really hoping to avoid the DJI Fly app altogether with Dronelink but I see that might not be possible. I'll be content if I can just get the dronelink features working. Any help is appreciated.
Firmware on the Air 2 is most recent and I only recently installed both the fly app and the dronelink app on android.

I am having no issues with my MA2 using an iPad 11 Pro. What device are you using ? Is it a WiFi only device ?

You need a device which has GNSS. No app will work using follow mode without it because the drone needs to know where the device is.Try another phone which has cellular service ability and it will work. It doesn’t even need a cellular plan, just the GNSS module.

It has cellular service ability but just doesn't have a plan currently. I usually have it in airplane mode even though I still have GPS and WiFi on so I can try taking it off of airplane mode and see if that helps. I'll also try on another phone that has full service.

Also I’m fairly sure you need to set the “Distance Reference” in the DL mobile app dashboard under general settings to Device, not home.
