Mapper Plan and orbits

Michael Porritt

Hello,

I have purchased the Mapper plan as we complete a lot of 3D models for clients and this seems to be the best solution for us.

One thing is that when we get to site, we need to complete a calibration run for our drone, which is usually an orbit containing a minimum 36 images to upload to Context Capture so it can calibrate the camera on the drone for the day.

As the Mapper package doesnt have the Orbit function, what is our best method of being able to complete this with DroneLink? We can change to a different flight controller like Pix4Dcapture if necessary, however would prefer to keep everything in Dronelink for simplicity.

Is there a way we can introduce a basic orbit function into the mapper plan? I am happy to purchase the hobbyist plan that has the orbit functionality, however will this mean we loose the mapper plan and can no longer use this for work related flights? The business plans are not feasible as we would certainly go over the 200 minute limit in one site capture, and we complete up to 20 sites in a given month...

Any ideas how we can do this?

Cheers,

Michael

You need to be on the Business Starter plan. We recently released a total cost estimator - what does your cost come out to per month? We have volume discounts for enterprises.

    Thanks Jim,

The issue is that due to the client, the number of models we need to create fluctuates from 0 to around 15 per month. Using an average of 2 hours (120 minutes) to collect the aerial photography for each model, you are looking at nearly USD$840 per month for something we are purely using to calibrate the UAV camera as the mapper plan is unlimited minutes. For that sort of money we would just use the free flight controllers to collect the calibration data as it usually only takes 5 minutes.

What would be good is if the mapping missions did not contribute towards your monthly minutes (the same as the mapping plan). These missions due to their nature (specifically cross hatch missions) take a lot of time compared to most others, which is where the pricing of your software becomes unviable from a business point of view.

    Is this something that's feasible?

    Cheers,

if the mapping missions did not contribute towards your monthly minutes

We have considered something like that but there are technical reasons on our end that make this difficult. The current options are:

    1. Enterprise / volume pricing
    2. Sign up for a starter account (you can have multiple accounts associated with the same user profile) and fly the non-mapping stuff in the Starter plan. The native app allows you to easily switch between accounts.

What would be the equivalent plan for a Mapper?
