recording from take off

Craig Vincent

I can't seem to make Dronelink record video during the approach to the first destination. I swear I have done it in the past, but can't seem to do it now. I can't see a difference between the plans  that worked earlier, and the one not working now.. In the mission preview it records the whole flight except the first 55 seconds of flying the approach to my first path waypoint. Tried immediate action in approach. Have flown quite a few successful flights where all went as planned. Enjoy the flexibility of product, but learning curve pretty steep for my old brain.

You can add an auto capture to the approach. Or you can use the controller to start video. Remember that the controller can still be used to control the camera, gimbal, and so on. Just like flying with fly app.

Thanks Will...  I cannot tell you why it works like it works, but your suggestion did help..  I have my camera commands in a list, and when I clicked on the circle in front of the list it took me to the automatic capture option. It was set to video, and while it seems wrong, when I turn it off, my preview screen now shows it recording from the time I lift off which is what I wanted.  I don't have to understand everything I guess as long as I can make it do what I want..    Thanks again.

Hi Craig. As William stated you can Auto Capture so it starts recording from take-off. Simply put, once you have created your plan just click on the green destination pin #1 and select “Set Immediate Component”, it will start recording right from take-off and en-route to the destination point. It will continue from there until you either stop or change anything. Adding Markers are a great way to change anything along the path to include starting or stopping video, change to taking photos or many other commands such as camera, gimbal, altitude, speed etc.

    Good Luck and Enjoy. Mike.......

Won't get a chance to fly 1st mission until next week, but have a question in the meantime.

I understand the gist of the above but not sure I understand to what extent things can be controlled manually.

For example, lets say I create the simplest of missions. Take off, fly to 3 destinations, and end. During this mission I can control the gimbal, take photos etc. but what happens if I deviate from the route programmed, or change speed or altitude? Rather than guess, I'll await to hear form someone who knows that can educate me. Thanks!

I’m  Still learning myself but always trying different things to see how certain functions work. Correct, If just flying a plan with a path only then you can take manual photos or videos. The Native App however is using Virtual Stick approach which means it’s controlling the sticks automatically through the app and I believe are basically locked out for manual use. I may be wrong but fairy sure I’m correct. If you could the mission would likely fail due to being too far off course or too far above or below the altitude settings in the plan. You would be fighting against the automated commands which would defeat the purpose and likely cause a mission failure of you could. At least that’s what makes sense.

I believe I tried once before to ascend up manually when it was getting too close to the ground then I wanted it to be and it would not let me control it. I had to pause then RTH and adjust the plans altitude. Also you may already know this but you can’t change the speed switch during flight. It will stop the mission.

I'm sure someone else can confirm but if not Jim will obviously know about the sticks control.

    Good luck, Mike.......

Seems so obvious now that you've pointed out what's happing within a mission. Thanks for the input!

Virtual stick disables stick input from the RC. If you want to regain control:
