Using Dronelink for GIS
I'm at the very beginning here, so I apologize- still learning!
Can I use Dronelink to collect imagery that I can bring into Drone2map?
Probably an obvious question, but getting the "how to" on all of this is a bit tricky since there's info overload out there.
I JUST signed up for a basic access on Dronelink, and I'm faculty at an institution that has an ESRI license so I thought this would be a great way to collect some basic data. I'm not looking to do 3d yet, just some basic field work and small sites.
I have a Mavic Air 2 which is why I'm using Dronelink as this seems to be the only flight planning software available for the MA2 right now.
Have a great day!

Basic does not include mapping. You can compare features here.
Just upgrade to the Premium package....I did the same
YES, you will be able to collect your own imagery.....pretty simple process.
Thank you! Yes, I've watched quite a few videos now and have the premium and working on making a "mapping mission". I think the part I'm not finding any info on is the step on getting the data I collect on Dronelink in an ESRI product (like ArgGis or Drone2map, etc). I've found tutorials on other flight planning/mapping apps, but not seeing anything about it yet for Dronelink.
We have a demo showing how the Pix4D upload works. As for other apps, you typically need to upload the images directly in their interface.
Jim,
Thank you so much for the reply and the help!! I think I'm probably doing a bad job of asking the right question- what I'm wondering is if I do a mapping mission with Dronelink, do the resulting jpg's have coordinates in the metadata? Like, are they georeferenced or have any location data attached to them so that when I import them into my GIS they will "know where they are"..so to speak?
DJI drones save geo data in the EXIF of the photos, but apparently it isn't always as accurate as it could be.
Dronelink is capable of creating an asset manifest, which records the file names / sizes, and GPS coordinates (among other information) of the photos that are captured (in JSON format). You can enable it by clicking this button:
Any mission that has a component marked with an asset source will then have this tab:
Asset manifest snippet:
Yay!
Thank you very much! That is EXACTLY what I was looking for :-)
Very much appreciate taking the time to show me that.
I hope you have a great day,
c
