A few questions about Paths

Justin Manning

Happy Friday All!

1.  When I make a new Path and turn on video it does a Gimble 0.  Is it possible to change it to a useful amount or delete it?  I cannot find where it actually gets set.

2.  I am playing with Paths on this problem also.  Between my 2 paths it does a weird squigle.  I have tried Curved, straight adjust angle.  I have tried adding more waypoints and moving the Approach with no joy.  Same mission as above.

3.  On this Path mission the camera ends up turning to the right of path shortly after take-off.  I cannot for the life of me figure out where I accidentally set that.  I have checked Path properties as well as Marker 1 and 2.

With these 2 I am messing around trying to figure out the odds and ends of various components.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

Justin

If I understand you right. With reference to item 3: edit marker 3 and change "Heading 357"

This is true for the first point.

Use markers on the path that will allow you to precisely control the gimbal.

That was it, I think I had gone screen blind last night looking for that.  Any thoughts on my other 2 questions?

    ~Thanks

    Hi Justin,

    1) Why did you create two paths instead of one round-trip with waypoints? It may be that the flight "jumps" from one path to the next

    2) I believe you can preset the gimbal angle in your first path starting instructions as an "executed" command

    3) At the end of the mission, the DroneLink s/w quits and the drone itself does a RTH maneuver. Therefore, the gimbal will go to zero degrees, the drone will yaw to the right and return home...I believe that's what's going on

    Hello Doug,

For #1 I created 2 Paths for testing and messing around. In the past I was recommended using 2, so just trying it out.

For #2 it by default puts in. 0 Gimbal before recording video. Only way I have found is to use a Marker. I would prefer to either change the default one it puts in or remove it. If doing 2 videos with 2 paths you see the gimbal jump around on the video instead of it already being set.

#3 was fixed by Rafal pointing out that I had a heading set that was moving it. So good on this this, thanks Rafal!

Hope it makes sense, doing this from my phone with the wife driving.

    Hi Justin.
The other comments are great and more advanced with DL then I am. Most of all that can be resolved in the mission components setup once you practice. Just a suggestion but instead if using markers to start and stop videos you can just setup all of that from the start of mission. There is nothing wrong with using markers that way, I just find setting it up at the start of mission to be easier. You can start video at or near the beginning and stop at any time during mission. You can switch to photos or just start another separate video of you want. It does take more time to make sure you get it all setup in the proper order but eventually I’ve figured out a lot. I do use markers a good amount of the time depending on the plan or location. Things like Altitude, Gimbal, path, speed etc.

I copied your mission and altered it to see if you like it they way I set it up. A bit more simplified. Many different ways to set it up so depends on what will work best for you and what you prefer. These mission apps do have a learning curve which takes time but eventually the more you use it and plan many experimental missions, it becomes easier. Hope this helps.

    Good luck, Mike....
