Destination as an "On the fly function"

kelvin kennedy

Please consider adding Destination as an on the fly function.

My use is simple. Search and Rescue

very bad cell service, Dispatch gives me a coordinate pinged from callers cellphone. These are not always accurate.

I need to be able to manually fly to the given coordinate (or towards it) to asses the terrain and try to verify if we have the correct coordinates.  (preferably DD,MM.mmm but I'll take what I can get)

That was not the issue. You need to have a drone connected so it can give you the distance and direction from the current location as a verification step. It now gives a better error message when you don't have a drone connected.

That makes sense. I have Rope training for SAR this morning and will try it out.

Jim McAndrew It worked wonderfully. I didn't have control of the Gimbal like I thought I would. It was fighting me for control and won.  Not a huge deal, it still got me where I needed to be within 2 ft, Just didn't feel natural not being in control of the gimbal.

It uses a destination component right now, which does automatic drone heading and gimbal commands along the way by default. The code is open source if you want to change it and make it your own.
