Trying To Understand 'Add Automatic Capture'

Kgaudineer

Good Morning Dronelink Community,

I am taking a break from trying to install the Dronelink app on my DJI Smart Controller and going through the Dronelink 101 videos.

My goal is to gain confidence and setup a simple mission using the web interface and then execute the mission with my Mavic Air 2.   My mission is a starting point, with an 'Orbit' component and I want to take a video of the object in the center of the orbit.  I learned in the videos that a good practice was to use a list and the 'Immediate Component' to make sure that things like capture was stopped the storage location was correct ect... and then use the 'Achieved Component' to start the video.

When setting up my mission I see that the orbit doesn't have and immediate or achieved component, only the approach has these.  However, if I drill into the settings on the 'Orbit Component'  I see there is an 'Add Automatic Capture' but that can only be set to video or photo.  If you enable that component and go through the virtual run of the mission it looks like this is actually a list of commands there is a capture stop, camera mode video, and capture start at the beginning of the orbit then there is a video capture then a capture stop at the end of the orbit.  This looks to be exactly how I want the video capture to go (Only during the orbit not during the approach) so my question is,  If I set the other options for the video using the immediate component on the approach Like SD card for storage, D-Cinelike, and 4k 60FPS,  will those options still be in effect if I use the 'Add Automatic Capture' component?

As I understand the question, yes. The video will start the recording during the orbit and the camera settings will be either what they were set at manually prior to the start of mission, or set by imediate component commands before the Orbit. Also, The settings from the DJI app carry over to the DL app. In otherwords, your RTH altitude, camera settings, white balance, Obstacle avoidance, SD card storage, etc, should all be what the DJI app was set last set at. Hope this helps. Good luck.

    Mike,

Thanks for the quick response.  I realize that question rambled on and got a little 'wordy'  but you understood the question perfectly.  Also, thanks for the additional insight on the DJI Fly App settings carrying over.  For me that's a huge win.  A lot of the aerial videos I do around here I need to fly manually first so I can get familiar with the surroundings and how to setup the shots.  My plan is to fly manually with the DJI Fly App first, then transfer all the notes from that manual flight to the Dronelink app and make a run at it with the drone being controlled with Dronelink.   If the same settings carry over from the manual flight everything just got a whole lot easier.

Thanks again have a pleasant afternoon.
