Mission Report
Good morning Jim,
iOS iPhone 8 Beta Version 2.2.0 (141) Mavic Air 2
6 Missions in Public Repository G4orce Aerial Media-Harbortown Rehearsal
6 missions were flown of which 5 were successful.
The first mission was aborted twice due to too far off course warning. Before takeoff warning was received that actual takeoff point was 158 feet from planned. Warning was dismissed. After moving plotted takeoff point closer to the actual takeoff point, the mission was successful.
Mission 6 failed due to drone off course by 75 feet. The leg was south to north with a direct crosswind. Surface winds were estimated at 10 knots from the East. Flown at 150 feet which probably had winds closer to 15 knots.
Video feed was jerky but resulting footage was relatively smooth. I reset the takeoff point closer to my actual takeoff point for all missions. The new plotted takeoff point was 58 feet from actual. I wasn't able to get closer due to obstructions in the area. It was extremely difficult in the field on the iPhone as the web app is not friendly on touch screens. This wouldn't have been possible without an internet connection and it's not always possible to use the plotted takeoff point in the field. I'm not sure that this was a contributing factor to the off course aborts in that the takeoff point error is compounded in flight. Overall decent performance in windy conditions.
Thanks,
Werner

Winds can throw it off course. Just adjust the motion tolerance up more then the default distance of 75 feet. Also make sure if your using takeoff restriction to “specific area” you can make the takeoff are larger. Just make sure takeoff is within that area. Maybe you already know about these functions adjustments but, thought I’d just try and help with some of your issues.
Also I am using a IPad Mini 5 so I understand it is more difficult with iPhone 8 smaller screen. I have an IPhone 8 Plus and it is more difficult. However, I use my IPad Mini to setup most of my missions and the touch screen works great. No issue using my finger to add, change, drag waypoints etc. Zooming in makes it easier sometimes to see each section and change anything. Good luck. Hope any of this helps
Mike....
Thanks Mike. I was able to change it on several missions but the last one took some waypoints with it. I replotted the mission on my desktop and flew it successfully today. I'm going to get the Tripltek tablet for my monitor. I do see that default 75 foot limitation now. Thanks.
Glad it may have helped. I’m still fairly new to any mission app so I read a lot of comments and it has helped me. Also the Facebook Dronelink group has good info from other users. Enjoy....
Please let me know if this is any better in 142.
Updating now Jim and will let you know. I'll repeat a few missions for comparison.
Up to now I have performed over 10 missions with Dronelink both on iOS with Ipad mini 5 and on Android with Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro (Dronekink build 137, 141 and 142 with always updated DJI firmware).
I performed missions lasting 3-4 minutes each both as a path and as a photogrammetry (simple or grid).
Everything has always been fine. I always start DJI Fly, I check all the parameters, I fly manually for a few moments, then I land, I force the app to close and I start Dronelink.
The only drawback now known but that does not affect the flight is the error message that comes out of the forced closure of the app on iOS (known problem SDK DJI).
With the build 142 flight seems more fluid.
Congratulations on a great modular app
