tested in manual flight Beta version 2.2.0 (142) MavicMini1 with IOS

feeldesign

hello, I just tested in manual flight version 2.2.0 (142)
1.Compass calibration request but impossible to do with Dronelink the button does not work, have to do it with DJI Fly and then return to Dronelink.
2.No notification sound with Dronelink.
3.No altitude indication from RTH.
4.No possibility of adjusting the shutter speed, so impossible to adjust the value to twice the number of images per second, example shutter 1/50 for 25fps.
5. Cannot turn off the vision sensor.

I will keep you posted during my automatic flight tests

I understand most of your issues and I’ll try to help with a few.

First, You don’t need to use the Beta version. The regular Native App for Mavic Mini has been in the App store for about 7 months. I don’t believe it will make any difference but just a thought for future use and maybe Jim can answer that more.

For the Compass calibration, Vision sensors and RTH , they should all be done and set in the Fly App. Once there done they won’t need to be changed unless you want to change any of those settings for certain missions. The Dronelink app will use the same basic settings you have set in the Fly app.

As far as using for a manual flight and no mission, I see no reason to use Dronelink. I use it for missions and DJI Fly for my regular manual flights. Dronelink is not meant to replace the Fly app which has a lot more functions/ features.

Last of all, If you start and let the DJI Fly App load first then open Dronelink, the camera functions should work. Once working close Fly app.

I Hope any of this helps. Good Luck, Enjoy.

    Mike..........

Hello Mike and thank you for the information.
    1. I use the Beta version under Jim's advice because I have so many bugs with the App Store version that I was unable to use my Mavic Mini 1 (see my post in the Bugs section)
2.For calibration and RTH I just wanted to know if it was normal to do this in DJI Fly and thank you for the info. it would still be interesting to have the sound notifications about acquisition of the home point and the low battery level ...
    3. I agree that Dronelink has no use for manual flight, but this point was impossible with the App store version, I have to test things in order.
    4. I will test to adjust  the camera value in DJI fly then return to Dronelink to check that the settings are maintained, I'll do my first flight in Automatic and tell you what the result is.

Ok. I Understand about using the Beta. Good to hear. I agree it would be nice to have the Home-Point sound notification. That’s one of the reasons I stated before why I always start up DJI first. Just to make sure. Not a bad idea and can’t hurt to ask tho. Good luck and hopefully you get it all sorted out.

    Enjoy, Mike.....

Yesterday I tested the info concerning the camera settings with DJI before using Dronelink: if we switch to manual mode with DJI we can actually modify the values after with Dronelink but if we switch to automatic mode under Dronelink, we can no longer switch to manual again, you have to go back to DJI to access manual mode again.
I tested the fx"focus" mode which works perfectly with my Mavic Mini1.

    Auto with DJI Fly

Manual with DJI Fly before then access available with Dronelink

Yes. Not sure why but this has been an issue. I believe they may be working in it but not really sure. Since DL app is used for automated missions and the camera commands execute properly I don’t think it’s a priority right now. I could be wrong.

    Enjoy....

These menus are all from the DJI UX SDK, which has many issues. We are currently working on our own version of the camera menus but it will probably be several version before it makes it to production. Feel free to contribute some pull requests if you want to help out.

Since DL would be mainly (or only) used for missions, is that the reason why we can't take off without GPS lock? Like in Fly app you can "unlock" Altitude mode and fly without GPS but DL doesn't give you that option (or I'm missing something somewhere....)

I believe you mean ATTI Mode, not Altitude Mode. I don’t know why you would what to fly in ATTI mode but, I’ve never seen anyway to turn off GPS in Fly app. I’ve heard Rumors that there may be a hack to do it but I would never use it of possible. I’m curious where you found a function to turn off GPS in DJI Fly app ?

    Enjoy, Mike....

No not turning off gps, but able to take off without enough satellites to lock position. I'm not flying outside without satellite lock anyway, only for indoors where you won't get enough satellites.

Ok. If indoors then I’d use the Fly app. If you want to use DL indoors then It’s the same to start the motors manually. You can do it with either DJI Fly or DL app. Pull both sticks down and in and motors will start. Dronelink just doesn’t have an auto take-off like the Fly app. Good luck.

On the DL app it says "Cannot take off" because I don't have any satellite reception indoors. Manual start doesn't work, and on y app manual start is both sticks down and out. No biggie, just wanted to know if you could use DL without having satellites....turns out you can't....

Fly app gives you the option to "Unlock" takeoff restriction like no gps lock

    DL app

Ok. I Get plenty of satellites even indoors so I’ve never had that message pop up. Very interesting why no satellites for you. I get about 10 to 14 satellites indoors. 16 to 21 outdoors. As I stated before tho, use the Fly app for indoors since DL is a mission app and used for outdoor automated flights.

The control sticks can start the motors either way. In and down or in and outward. I’ve always done turn inward and down. No difference, just your preference.

    Good luck.

just wanted to know if you could use DL without having satellites....turns out you can't

How would Dronelink know where to command the drone if it had no position information?

Uhm....same way Fly app does? I guess you didn't understand my observation. If DL is only meant to be used for missions (which require position information), then I guess you won't be able to take off without gps lock. But Rafał Ciszewski's picture here above shows that it is possible to fly without satellites after unlocking it in Fly app. So we will always need DJI Fly app available on our mobile just to configure or unlock some functions on DL...

If DL is only meant to be used for missions (which require position information)

This is exactly what Dronelink is meant for. If all you want to do is manually fly around then yes, you should just stick with DJI's apps.

So we will always need DJI Fly app

The amount of time and resources it would require to reimplement 100% of the features in DJI's apps makes it cost prohibitive when you can have this functionality for free from the manufacturer. We only make money by providing features that DJI doesn't offer.

Ok, that clarifies it for me. I was under the impression that we could use DL as replacement to Fly app. Are we still covered by DJI if we run into any issue during a Dronie for example while using DL? I would like to start using DL but would still want to be covered just in case.
