The Mission Preview provides you a graph at the bottom showing you "horizontal distance traveled from takeoff" as it proceeds through the mission.
Thanks. Right, but it would be nice to not have to preview each time to see distance from takeoff point which is kind of trial and error. I'm thinking of a circle around the takeoff point that can be defined as a certain radius within which we can plan our mission without having to use preview to see if we are too far out, then adjust then preview again etc. Maybe I am missing something? dunno, new user.
I agree that would be a nice-to-have feature. Might consider submitting it in the "Feature Requests" section of the Forum.
With my workflow I usually know the path I want to take upfront so I lay out all the waypoints and/or destination components to achieve that route objective with no regard to speed, altitude, POIs, headings, etc. I then do a quick preview just to make sure I am in distance spec - both from takeoff as well as total distance. Once I am happy with that I go back and start adding in the markers and other parameters and components that define all the other aspects of the mission and what I want to accomplish along the way.
Your suggestion certainly would aid the first part of my workflow.
Just a suggestion. Use Google maps to measure distance within that area before using. I use it occasionally just to see how far a object is away fro me. You can drop a pin then drag wherever you want to see distance. Enjoy.
