Is possible start the mission directly in the air

Francisco Orellana

hello and thank you in advance for your response

i explain my question

esentially i must take off in a very complicated place with a lot of trees cables and light, for security reason i must take of manually and fly at 20 meters of alttitude for to avoid any danger completly, staying in this point in the air( at 20 meters) can i start the mission directly from this point in the air and go to the first point of waypoint, please say me if this is possible  or how to achive it.

thank you in advnace for your response

Yes, you can takeoff manually before starting the mission.

I can confirm, and have done this several times already.

Some context that comes to mind - this is actually how “on the fly” functions work. For the orbit function, for instance, it prompts you first to fly directly above the point of interest, then to fly to the maximum extent of the orbit. It then dynamically creates a mission with those parameters and  allows you to fly it. If you had to start missions from the ground, then functions wouldn’t work :)

One more thing is that if you’re taking off from somewhere that you don’t have a clear vertical ascend/descent path, make sure to set your failsafe to something other than RTH (“return to home”). I recommend setting it to hover so you can manually take control. Also, be very cognizant of your battery level, as DJI forces your drone to either RTH or land immediately at ~20% battery. While you still have some control when this occurs, it will get progressively more authoritative. There are few things more frustrating than desperately trying to keep your drone out of the trees while the firmware is fighting you to descend into them!

After you have manually taken off and flown to a location other than the take-off point, when you then start your mission will the drone then immediately rise (or drop) to the altitude designated in the 1st Approach before moving horizontally?

Yes, within the bounds of your Altitude Range:
