Zoom In / Out Display on M3E

The application does not display the zoom-in / out  (i.e. 1X, 2X, ......7X) when executing a mission. I resorted to going to the DJI Pilot 2 app to get the right zoom and jump back into dronelink. The zoom reading is critical when taking up and close shots of telecom antennas and structures. The M3E optical zoom (1X-7X) is relevant when building 2D and 3D photogrammetry models. Displaying the zoom level on the screen is a must. Thanks in advance.

Not sure if the M3E will be able to zoom. Other drone pilots have asked about this many times. My MA2 has zoom capabilities but it’s been two years now and doesn’t seem like it’s possible. The M3E may be different though.

The M3E has zoom capabilities  it is a hybrid zoom 1X to 7X optical and 8X to 16X digital. The app allows the M3E to zoom but you won’t see what level of zoom it is because is not showing in the screen. I wanted to make the software developers aware of this issue so they can update the app on a future firmware update with the zoom level showing in the screen.

    Understood. Good luck.

    Hello,

We intend to add zoom controls to the Flight Dashboard in a future update. This would work for drones with zoom capable payloads, like the M3E, or M2Z. Using the DJI app to set required zoom level is the workaround for that.

    Best,

    Jacob

I recently noticed that each time the M3E has a battery swap, it goes back to 7x on the zoom. Any updates on when the ability to manually change the zoom level within DL?

This is the default behavior of the drone (even in DJI Pilot). Implementing zoom controls is still on the list of priorities.

Zoom commands and controls are coming in the next beta build (265).

Just checking in here late to the party.  Did this make it into the app?  If so, i'm not finding it, but could be me.

Hi Tony. My MA2 has Zoom capability and does work. Make sure you go into the DL Native app settings and enable the zoom controls. This was implemented quite awhile ago and I have used it several times or more and is a great DL function.

Thank you Mike (Arizona Wyldwest), I went and mine was indeed turned on, but I just don't see anything else to control it with.  I must be missing something.

Dronelink only allows you to zoom of the zoom lens is selected. There is supposed to be a toggle to let you switch between wide and zoom on the dashboard but it isn't showing up right now for some reason (will look into it), but if you switch to zoom in DJI Pilot first you should be able to zoom.

Next beta should have the wide/zoom selector back.
