Some clarification on DJI onboard waypoint missions
I recently experimented with my old Mavic Pro and converted an existing mission to a DJI_Waypoint mission. The video footage was much better, with smoother turn and yaw movements than with my Air2s or Mini 2 (using virtual stick only). This then got me thinking about the pros and cons of using the onboard waypoint method.
As I understand it, not all commands in Dronelink are supported, as a result of the limitations of the DJI SDK?
1. I’ve never used the DJI Waypoint v2.0 within the 'Go4' App, so, if I convert a standard waypoint mission to a DJI_Waypoint Mission, is it possible to insert any basic commands at all, such as take a photo at ‘Waypoint Alfa’ or start recording at ‘Waypoint Delta ‘ etc. - as a general example?
2. Also, if my mission (prior to converting) has several components e.g. 3 Waypoint components and 2 Orbits, are these then converted into separate DJI_Waypoint components, but still residing within the overall DJI Waypoint Mission?
3. If this is the case, I assume that a r/c connection with the drone would be required at each juncture between execution of the individual components, in order to upload data?
I accept that there are limitations with onboard waypoints, but to resume a mission following loss of signal is a definite plus, over against the RTH option with the Air2S or Mini 2.

Yes, each component gets uploaded as one onboard waypoint mission when the previous component finishes.

So just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly - a standard mission (e.g.) with 2 waypoints and 2 orbits, when converted, would result in 4 separate DJI Waypoint missions - the 4 components can't be stacked inside one large mission? This would mean that you need to run four separate missions?

It would result in one Dronelink mission plan with 4 separate DJI Waypoint Mission components in it, which when ran, results in 4 separate onboard waypoints missions getting uploaded in succession.

I just read the explanation in the link you posted above - which says it all:
Multiple Components
Dronelink mission plans can effectively run multiple DJI Waypoint missions without requiring the user to manually open and upload each new mission. Each DJI waypoint mission is just another component of the same mission plan.
