Avata support
I just did on online purchase for a new DJI Avata. I looked through the support information and it does not appear this drone is supported for use with Dronelink as yet. This is a real drag since I have a flight path I use a few times a week to put together a timelapse video of our new work facility construction. Is there a way to find out a potential plan of when it might be supported? I'd like to use it with the same flight path instead of the mini, and don't want to sell the mini until it's compatible.

Hi Paul. DJI needs to build the SDK for a particular drone first. Its not Dronelink. With that said I would not expect DJI building the SDK for a FPV drone even if it can fly in what we call normal mode. Anythings possible but doubtful. All of the drones so far over many years are cinematic drones so It may not even be possible. You can sign up for updates in the link provided but even if they do it could be 6 months to a year for DJI. Just as a reference, DJI never built the SDK for the original FPV. Sorry there is no good news.

Thanks for the info. I signed up and will hold onto my mini until the construction is done.
You can check the DJI Developer website for any info. Also DJI has switched their focus on the Enterprise Series drones now. That's why the M3E is supported but not the others. It's anyone's guess if the newer consumer drones will be supported anytime soon. Hope this helps with future purchases.

DJI has not released the SDK for the DJI FPV so I doubt the Avata support is coming.
Trust me, Mini 2 with DL is a powerful budget setup for anyone into planned automated flights. Because of DL, I had to get another Mini 2 as a spare. The two together is a wicked pair for any hobbyist or even someone looking to be operate a drone under the registration radar, yet having some good imagery to work with.
I think Avata DJI on DL could bring some new possibilities, but i thinks it will perhaps enable increased path resolution on DL servers - especially curves translation. I’m hoping that we could get to a point where we have a lot of the backend services offloaded to the handheld. Before Avata though, I’m hoping Mini 3 Pro and Magic 3 series first.

Until DJI brings out an SDK for it there is nothing Jim can do. And, given their recent decisions to not bring that out even for things like the Mavic 3 (non Enterprise), I suspect that is something they are unlikely to do.
