Big map : Resume several times VS split small maps

Paulo Pereira

Hi,

I am planning a big map.

Dronelink app advices to split the big map in to several smaller maps.

But I think that will be easier for me to have just one big map, and resume it 10 times, one time per day,  instead of creating 10 different smaller maps.

What you think about it ?

My big map: https://app.dronelink.com/paulo-pereira/my-first-project/plan/u2X23Nl8y7JGpGknubBd/J71P4foVe9EvJUQxhdW7

Thanks in advance,

Paulo

You need to split this into 5-10 separate missions.

A mission that size is not going to work.

Aside from the fact that I doubt it will load and run.  If it does, you will lose 10% of the battery at each swap.

From personal experience I wouldn't go more than 400 acres per map - depending in part on the tablet you are using.  My suggestion - break into 300 acre sections.

And - didn't you say you only have 3 batteries?  In which case, breaking it into sections will work better for you anyway.

    Thanks Jim

I have a Elite subscription if I upgrade to professional subscription is the same solution? (create several small projects).

    Thanks

Paulo, I do not believe the subscription type has any affect. It is the amount of data in your plan that has to be uploaded each time the drone is put in flight, including after each battery change. It takes quite a while to load it all and as Barry said you will use up a good portion of your battery while it loads. Actually I tried loading your plan onto an iPad Mini and it failed repeatedly to load. I also tried it on an iPhone 14 and it too would not load. If you created the plan on a PC or Mac have you even tried to load it up on your controller to see what happens? I would suggest trying that if you have not. There are other threads here that discuss this issue, and it just won't reliably work to attempt such a large plan at one time. Good software will stitch them all together later on. Another issue that hasn't been mentioned is the distance from the controller after restarting a mission. You may be flying quite a distance just to resume the mission = time and battery again. If you do smaller ones you can move each time so you are closer to where you will be flying.
