Mapping mission Takeoff location and Ground Location Issues

Markos Priovolos

Hello, I have purchased the Hobbyist Elite plan and I run in a bit of a frustration. I want to run a quick test 3D mapping mission taking off from the roof of my building (+15m from ground) and I noticed a fundamental problem. The mapping feature in the software does not work as it should. It creates a flight grid that ensures the photos overlap you set BUT. In the hobbyist plans not only you don't have the terrain follow feature, you also cannot reference the ground in order to set a flight altitude, which is a safety risk in case you are not planning or even able to takeoff from ground. But, I still (kind of) understand that you are not able to reference the ground since it seems you made it a higher tier feature, what I don't get though is why we are not able to set the takeoff location altitude so it can be correctly referenced for the rest of the flight, it should be considered. Correct me if I'm wrong, think I found a work-around, by setting the target distance in the mapping mission, but still the mission preview would be more simple for us to understand and possibly more accurate if you could set the takeoff location precisely. We should try to increase the safety of drone flights both for us, the pilots, and our devices but for the bystanders as well.

Thanks, Mark

This is the solution right now.
