Automatic Control Interrupted …P-GPS Flight Mode

JR Howell
I am attempting a couple mapping missions, but they are being interrupted with the following error: Automatic Control Interrupted. The drone must remain in P-GPS Flight Mode for automatic control. I am in an area for LAANC approval which I received. I also applied, and got approved via DJI flysafe. The controller originally said NFZ Limit, but that cleared after I unlocked with DJI Go 4. It’s interesting. The first mission SHCCMap10 starts, flies to the map starting point, then stops with the error before taking any photos. The second mission SHCCMap10-12 flies to the start and takes a dozen Photos or so before throwing the error. Note that the controller says GPS after the error (no indication of NFZ Limit). I thought the issue might be since I’m approved to fly to 200 ft and my map is set up for 200 ft. So I changed the first mission to map at 185 feet. No change. Still stops at the starting point. Any ideas what I should be doing differently? Thanks.

There are several possible reasons for this.  Go through them one by one:

    1. Make sure that the unlock is still applied.  You can add it to the drone but you need to go into the GO4 app, switch to the tab that says unlocks that are on the drone and then turn it on.  Note: During battery swaps it sometimes gets turned off again, so you might need to do that each time.
    2. You are higher than the altitude allowed.  Make sure you have a bugger in the plan - for example, if you have approval up to 300ft - set your mission to something like 280ft.  Otherwise as soon as it drifts above it will disconnect.
    3. You are too close to the outer edge.  There seems to be a bit of a buffer.  The best way to find it is switch to DJI app and fly as far as you can to where the boundary is.  It should stop with a message about the limit being reached.  As with altitude, make sure you have a nice buffer between that outer edge and your mission, especially for mapping which often flies past the map limit during the turn around.

    Hope that helps

Thanks for your help. I did all those things and it worked fine. One additional note … I need to make sure my return to home altitude is below as well. 200 ft LAANC approval here so I flew at 180 ft.
