Import boundary points kml error
I tried to use the Import Boundary Points feature on a Map component with a KML file, but I just get an "Unable to import boundary points from this file" error.
I tried with both a (sloppy) polygon rectangle and with a different file containing only 4 points for the corners of the rectangle. Is there a different requirement for what should be in the KML? There weren't any details in the support article for the feature - https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/4416239362835
I exported from Google Earth, and separately exported from CalTopo and didn't have any luck from either source.

Can you share your kml file?
Hi Meghan, I had the same issue! I solved exporting .KML with only Google Earth polygons. Bye!
Need to resurrect this topic. Our SAR team uses Caltopo extensively and the drone team needs to be able to easily import defined areas.
I would be happy to provide kml file(s) that demonstrate this error.
Dave
Can you provide a link to an example?
You can import a .shp of point features in Google Earth, theh save file to .KML and finally import it in Droneliink as (bpundary) points.
I hope this is useful for you.
Bye, Sergio
Thanks, Sergio but we don't use Google Earth, we use Caltopo.
Jim, A link to what, exactly? A Caltopo map, the exported .kml file. Is there a way to attach the .kml to this thread? I see the link button and a picture button but no file insert button.
Dave
This is the link to the Caltopo map.

The kml file, maybe on dropbox or something?

This is a public link, would prefer if we could arrange a more private channel. I have a third party 'translator' that seems to work. Unfortunately, it requires additional steps and another platform. Would like to discuss.
Thanks,
Dave
You can email the file to support@dronelink.com
Dronelink now supports importing Caltopo KML files.
