Customize Map Drone Heading

  • Updated

Customize the map drone heading from the default Forward setting, which keeps the drone always pointed forward along the flight path, to a custom heading relative to the flight path or North. This keeps the camera facing a set direction instead of rotating for each leg of the flight.

To access this setting, set the Mission Planner in Expert Mode, and open the advanced map settings.

A Growth plan is required.

Front and Side overlap values are based on the camera field of view, so changing the heading direction will change the flight path as shown in the examples below.

This setting is useful for applications where the photos must not rotate between rows, and instead keep constant framing relative to north, such as solar farm inspection.

Forward

Default setting for all maps. Drone follows the flight path and rotates with each row.

Custom Heading Relative to Path or North

Drone and photo framing faces at custom set angle relative to either the flight path or North for each row. Drone does not rotate between rows when using North as a reference, but does rotate when using Path as the reference.
